High Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure

You must have heard – many times probably – just how bad it is to have high blood pressure. And it’s true, it can be very dangerous to a lot of people. But there may be something that you haven’t heard.

Roughly 6 out of every 10 people who get heart attacks have NORMAL blood pressure readings and a very large percentage of them were taking high blood pressure drugs.

Let me just spell out what that means. Normal blood pressure brought about by taking medications is no guarantee that you will not suffer a heart attack. In fact a study in Europe suggested that people who had high blood pressure readings lived longer with fewer complications, if they did NOTHING at all about it, compared to people using hypertension medications. Hmmm, that doesn’t seem to make any sense, does it?

Call me cynical if you like, but wherever there’s a fortune to be made by prescribing drugs, I question whether those drugs are really totally necessary in the first place. There’s a lot of money made on the back of blood pressure medications. A lot of money. Natural remedies don’t make billions for pharmaceutical companies, but of course big pharma is not pushing such remedies, are they?

Heart disease remains the top cause of death – but more and more blood pressure meds are being given out and regulatory bodies keep lowering the “standards”, which has the effect of lumping ever more people into a high risk category. Some people claim that the high blood pressure guidelines have a single, true goal . . . the manufacture, distribution and sale of billions of dollars worth of drugs. That’s a pretty tough allegation and I haven’t seen absolute proof of it, but let me think out loud here: “more drugs equals more money.”

Look, your risk of a heart attack is greater with high blood pressure levels. The real questin is WHY? Is it lack of the “right” drugs? High blood pressure is not really a disease, it’s more a symptom of something underlying. If you can figure out WHY your blood pressure’s high then it’s likely that it will stabilize and normalize when you fix the underlying problem. Common sense, right?

After all, nobody would dream of treating a broken leg just with painkiller tablets. That would be stupid, right? You have to fix the leg. Pain killer tablets just ease the patient’s pain – they don’t fix the actual problem. Why does anyone think it’s different with high blood pressure?

So if high blood pressure doesn’t cause heart disease, but harmful drugs can actually increase your risk of having a heart attack and deteriorate your health – Why not help your body maintain normal blood pressure naturally, without doing harm? High blood pressure medications, some of them at least, appear to interfere with your body’s natural healing processes. That can’t be good.

And if your blood pressure levels come down too far your doctor may have to switch your meds. and prescription. In some cases you have to be careful what you eat, in case you may the effect of the medication by eating certain foods. Wait, some foods can alter your blood pressure?

Yes, they sure can.
